Mills excited as 'brilliant' Forshaw footage at Leeds emerges

Danny Mills has claimed it was “fantastic to see” Adam Forshaw return to league action for Leeds United as new footage analysed the impact he made.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender admitted it was too early to tell what kind of role Forshaw can play for the rest of the season and beyond.

The midfielder played the full 90 minutes of their 1-1 draw with Leicester last week – his first league start for Leeds since their 1-0 defeat to Swansea City in August 2019.

He has been on the sidelines with a series of hip injuries before making his return to first-team action this term.

Forshaw made three starts in the Carabao Cup and two substitutes appearances in the Premier League.

But a start against Leicester was a significant step up in his recovery, as detailed in the footage posted to Leeds’ Twitter account.

“It was fantastic to see him back, it’s absolutely brilliant,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“But whether he’s up to speed to the Premier League we just have to wait and see I think.

“A lot of it will depend on Kalvin’s fitness.

“Forshaw might be able to get through this season. But whether he is able to be there long-term, we don’t know because he’s not played at this level for four years.

“We don’t know if he can cope with the intensity.”

Forshaw is out of contract at Elland Road at the end of the current campaign.

The Liverpool-born ace last played in the Premier League with Middlesbrough during the 2016-17 campaign.
