Mills issues ‘astounded’ verdict on Conte potentially quitting Tottenham after update in last 24 hours
Danny Mills would be “astounded” if Antonio Conte quit Tottenham in February.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England full-back claimed Conte is trying to put pressure on Daniel Levy to loosen the purse strings this month.
Football.london‘s Alasdair Gold reported last Thursday (13 January) the squad fear the Italian could walk in February if he’s not backed in the transfer market.

As quoted by the same outlet today (21 January), Conte insisted he hoped the club would listen to him on transfers but refused to reveal if any deals were close.
Asked for his verdict on the 52-year-old potentially quitting Spurs, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It will depend on what the conversations were between Daniel Levy and Conte on what is available and when it is available.
“Is it available in January? Or did he say ‘Get through this season, do what you can and we’ll sort it out in the summer’. Then they can identify the targets with the sporting director that Conte knows very well.
“I would find it astounding if he walked away. Maybe he’s just trying to put some pressure on Daniel Levy through the media and the fans.
“It’s difficult to get top-class players in January, it’s really, really difficult. These sorts of players are already playing in the Champions League, they don’t want to leave that. They might be pushing for league titles.
“Jumping ship in January and getting top quality players in January is never easy.”

Tottenham’s last major arrival was Emerson Royal from Barcelona under Nuno Espirito Santo over the summer.
Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero both arrived on loan deals from Atalanta in the same window.
