Mills issues bold West Ham verdict after what he’s seen from Moyes
There is no reason why West Ham cannot go deep into the latter stages of the Europa League this season, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England defender heaped praise on David Moyes for taking the competition seriously by fielding strong teams.
West Ham maintained their perfect record in the competition this season with a 3-0 win over Genk at home last night.
They are now top of their group at the halfway stage but they still have tough away games at Genk and Rapid Vienna.
“David Moyes is taking the competition very seriously,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley
“A lot of other teams work really hard to get into Europe, then when they get there they don’t take it particularly seriously. You start to think ‘What was the point of all that hard work in the first place?’. That doesn’t make sense.
“I love the way he’s approached the competition, putting out strong sides. I think that’s important.
“There’s no reason why they cannot have a run in this competition.
“Players love playing games. If you’re doing well and are in decent form, which West Ham are, you don’t have to train a lot, you just want to keep playing.
“David Moyes has got that balance right at the moment.”

Speaking after the game, goalscorer Jarrod Bowen told BT Sport teams will now “fear” West Ham.
He insisted there are only few games away from a “big cup run”.
