Mills makes 'huge' Purslow claim as NSWE 'fuming' at Aston Villa
Danny Mills has suggested Christian Purslow cannot be blamed as Aston Villa owners NSWE fume over the Argentina covid chaos.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England right-back insisted all Premier League clubs need to work out the protocols ahead of the next international break in October.
Emiliano Buendia and Emiliano Martinez will miss Aston Villa’s game against Chelsea this weekend.
They are currently in green-list Croatia training for 10 days after meeting up with the Argentina squad in South America before travelling back to the UK.
Argentina’s World Cup qualifier was abandoned minutes into the game due to the presence of Martinez, Buendia and Spurs’ Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso.
Football Insider revealed yesterday (8 September) “furious” Aston Villa owners Wes Edens and Naseef Sawiris have probed Purslow over the controversy.

“Premier League clubs all need to work out what the protocols are and what the quarantine processes are,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Villa have tried to do right by the players because the players have said ‘We want to go, we want to play’. You don’t want unhappy players unnecessarily.
“Villa have done their best to accommodate that and do right by their players. There’s been a huge, massive miscommunication about the protocols and it’s caused chaos.
“I think next time that won’t happen again and everybody will know from the very, very beginning what is likely to happen and what the consequences will be.
“I don’t think you can blame the club or the players. It’s turned into a very unfortunate incident. Everybody goes ‘Who’s responsible?’ No one is the answer.”
