Mills: Poveda tipped to push through Leeds exit after major reveal
Danny Mills has tipped Ian Poveda to push through an exit from Leeds United this month.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender suggested Leeds was not the right club for the young winger.
Football Insider revealed yesterday (17 August) that the Yorkshire giants will listen to offers for Poveda after his first-team demotion.
The 21-year-old was not even in the Under-23s squad that beat Crystal Palace on Monday night amid a behind the scenes fall-out.
It is understood he could exit the club either permanently or on loan before the window closes at the end of August.
Asked for his assessment of the situation, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild: “He came in for a decent fee, a sizeable fee.

“You start to look at that and think ‘Ok, it’s not worked out’. If he’s only ready for the Under-23s at this stage where that should only be made up of Under-18s, Under-19s, Under-20s.
“If he’s only part of the Under-23s when they paid that amount of money for him, you start to wonder is this the right club for him?
“Certainly, from a personal perspective, he’ll be thinking ‘Hang on a minute, I was in Manchester City’s Under-23s and that’s why you bought me. I came here and have hardly been given a chance’. Whoever’s decision that is, he hasn’t had too much of an opportunity regularly.
“I’m not surprised he’s thinking about moving because he wants to play first-team football.”
Poveda moved to Elland Road from Man City in January 2020.
The England youth international has played 20 times across all competitions for Marcelo Bielsa’s side since his arrival.
