Danny Mills has tipped Tammy Abraham to hit the ground running at Aston Villa if he seals a summer switch from Chelsea.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England and Premier League defender delivered his verdict as Villa prepare a mega-bid for the striker.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (March 3rd) the Midlands giants have set aside £40million for Abraham ahead of the summer window.
The 23-year-old spent a fruitful season on loan at Villa Park in 2018/19 when his 26 goals helped fire them to the Premier League.
Dean Smith revealed ahead of the first time Chelsea faced Villa last season that Abraham was a “top player and a top person”.
He added: “We loved having him here and playing a part in his development and you know he’ll always have a strong affinity for Aston Villa.”
Asked whether Villa will be the frontrunners to sign Abraham in the upcoming transfer window, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes, as long as he enjoyed it and got on with everybody which I’m sure he did.
“It’s somewhere he knows and Villa knows him. It’s like ‘Right, ok, you’re coming in we know you and you know us.’
“You’re trying to take out that settling in period as best as you possibly can. That’s an advantage for both.
“It’s just about whether he fancies that and if they can pull off a permanent move.”
Abraham has 12 goals in 32 games across all competitions this season for Chelsea, including 12 Premier League starts.
The London-born striker also has six England caps to his name.
