Mills: Rangers stars will be thrilled after Tavernier's 'world-class' reveal this week

The Rangers players should “relish” the chance to play Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England full-back insisted the pressure is on Dortmund and Rangers have the chance to be heroes.

The draw was made on Monday (13 December) with the German giants dropping into the Europa League playoff after finishing third in their Champions League group.

The Gers finished runners-up in their Europa League group and the two sides will face off over two legs in February for a place in the round of 16.

Club captain James Tavernier told club media on Tuesday (14 December) he was looking forward to playing against “world-class” players.

“You always want to test yourself against the best,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“There’s almost less pressure because you’re playing Dortmund. If you go out, people are going to say ‘Well, it was always going to happen’. There’s less pressure in that sense.

“If you get a minnow who can be a bit of a banana skin who could cause an upset it’s a different type of pressure.

“As a player, you want the big clubs. They should relish it. Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, Reus is in there too. Why wouldn’t you want to play against these players?

“Go out and show how good you are. Rangers don’t often get to play teams of this quality, so what an opportunity it is.

“Look at Celtic when they beat Barcelona, people will remember that game forever and this could be a similar situation.

“The pressure is on Dortmund.”
