Mills reveals what he's heard Leeds stars say about Cresswell behind the scenes
Charlie Cresswell has proven he is capable of performing in the Premier League for Leeds United, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender hailed Cresswell’s leadership qualities after he spotted him “bossing” his teammates about on his Premier League debut.
The 19-year-old made his Premier League debut in last week’s 2-1 loss to West Ham at Elland Road.
According to LUFCDATA, Cresswell ended his league debut with the most touches (80) and the most successful passes (54) of anyone on the pitch.
However, the teenager was dropped to the bench against Watford after Diego Llorente returned from injury.
“Cresswell is a good young player,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“I’ve said all along that he’s a good defender, first and foremost. That’s one of the most important things and he enjoys defending, you can tell that from listening to the other players and reports.
“He’s also vocal which is vitally important. It goes to show that he’s got the confidence and maturity to boss other people about.
“People underestimate that. It can be quite intimidating going into that sort of environment.
“It’s like he’s a leader already. He will have to be managed because every young player will know that the transitions from Under-23s to the first-team is rarely smooth.
“There will be times where he makes mistakes or has a dip in form with the occasional bad game.
“But he’s certainly proved that he’s capable of being able to play at that level.”
Cresswell has now featured in three games across all competitions for Leeds.
He penned a new four-year deal with the Yorkshire giants earlier this season.
