Mills tells Dallas what he must do at Leeds next season to be the main man

Stuart Dallas is thoroughly deserving of a new Leeds United contract, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender insisted Dallas’ first season in the Premier League

The club confirmed last week the Northern Ireland international had penned a new deal that expires in 2024.

Dallas won the club’s player of the year and players’ player of the year award last term as he scored eight goals and provided two assists in 38 Premier League games.

The highlight of his stellar came when he scored both goals in Leeds’ 2-1 victory over eventual champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The 30-year-old is one of the club’s longest-serving players and has flourished since Marcelo Bielsa’s arrival in 2018.

Asked if Dallas deserved a new deal, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Definitely.

“He’s shown his versatility, his work rate and his quality. What more can you ask for from a player? It’s as simple as that, really.

“He’s now got to go and do it again next year. He thoroughly deserves a new deal.

“It doesn’t matter who you are and what team you’re in, if you come in and do well, you get rewarded. That’s how it should be.

“He’s done well and been rewarded. It’s as simple as that.”

Dallas has scored 27 goals and 17 assists in 230 games across all competitions for the Yorkshire giants.

He told Sky Sports that he was “over the moon” to be committing his future to the club.
