Mills shares Bate prediction after 'fabulous' Leeds news confirmed
New Leeds United signing Lewis Bate is a “fabulous player” but is “one for the future”, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender suggested the teenager may be given the odd start next season.
The Yorkshire giants confirmed the arrival of the 18-year-old from Chelsea on a three-year deal last week.
Leeds revealed they had beaten a “number of clubs” to his signature.
The Athletic reported on 21 July the Whites paid a £1.5million fee, plus add-ons, for the teenager who had attracted interest from West Ham United, Liverpool, Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion.
He had just 12 months left to run on his Chelsea contract and had made it clear he wanted to move on.

Asked whether Bate could make an impact in the first-team next season, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think he’ll be involved in squads, he might get the odd start.
“I don’t think he see too much action in terms of out-and-out first-team football. That midfield is quite packed at the moment.
“This is not a guaranteed star that’s coming in, he’s more one for the future.
“Lewis Bate is a fabulous player, no doubt and one for the future.”
As well as Bate, Leeds have added Amari Miller and Sean McGurk to their Under-23s side for next season.
Mark Jackson’s side will be competing in Premier League 2 Division 1 next term after winning the Division 2 title last season.
