Mills makes bold Bamford claim as horror Leeds stat emerges
Patrick Bamford’s early season form should not worry Leeds United, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender backed Bamford to still score 15 Premier League goals this term.
The striker scored 17 league goals last season – Harry Kane was the only Englishman to score more in the division.
He was rewarded with a call up to the England squad in the recent international break but he has not produced the same form domestically.
His only goal of the season came in the 1-1 draw to Burnley and he drew another blank at St. James’ Park on Friday night.
According to sofascore, Bamford touched the ball just 29 times – less than any other player including goalkeeper Illan Meslier (44).

“Let’s be honest, the team have had a tough start,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“It’s certainly not easy when you look at the team and the players they’ve played against. Certainly not easy.
“It’s now an opportunity for the team to pick up points which is what they need to do.
“I don’t think Bamford has necessarily underperformed. He got his goal against Burnley, maybe it was a bit fortuitous.
“But what do you expect from Bamford? I’d say 15 goals would be there or thereabouts. You’d have to be happy with that.”
Bamford’s fine season saw him rewarded with a new long-term deal which is set to expire in the summer of 2025.
The 28-year-old has now scored 44 times and provided 17 assists in 116 games across all competitions for Leeds.
