Mills expects Man United to accept Newcastle’s Lingard amid ‘£8m’ verdict
Man United will make a U-turn at the end of the transfer window and accept a £5million loan bid from Newcastle United for Jesse Lingard.
That is the view of ex-Man City and England defender Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Lingard’s future.
A recruitment source told Football Insider today (21 January) Newcastle have had a £5million-plus loan offer for the attacker knocked back by Man United.

Lingard is understood to be very interested in a potential move to Eddie Howe’s side after rejecting a new contract at Old Trafford.
The England star is out of contract at his boyhood club at the end of the current campaign.
“I don’t get Man United at all,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Why would you not let him go? If you’re not going to use him, you might as well let him go in January.
“I think this will go down to the last day of the transfer window. Then Man United will suddenly go ‘Oh, there’s no permanent offers, we’re just going to let him go for £5million’.
“What else can they do? Do they just sit there and lose £5million? That would be poor business.
“It would only be £7million or £8million if it was a permanent deal anyway. If you can get £5million in on a loan fee, take the offer.”

Lingard has played 14 times across all competitions for Man United this term but only two of those were starts.
The 29-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham where he scored nine goals and five assists in 16 Premier League appearances.
In other news, Newcastle United have opened preliminary talks to sign a Tottenham star after a Howe U-turn.
