Everton would be the “perfect” club for Kalidou Koulibaly, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England and Manchester City defender admitted the Blues could face stiff competition for the 29-year-old and will have to pay a big fee.
The pair worked together at Napoli during the Italian’s 18-month spell in charge of the club that ended in December 2019.
Ancelotti was able to lure midfielder Allan from the club last summer and Mills has insisted Koulibaly would be well advised to follow the same path.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “He’s probably the sort of player that would suit Everton right now.
“When I look at Koulibaly, would he be good enough on the ball for Manchester City? I’m not convinced, would be my answer. That’s a bit of concern and it’s similar at Liverpool.
“Everton could be the perfect foil for him where he would certainly be one of the best defenders there. Ancelotti could bring him on leaps and bounds too.
“Again, it’s not going to come cheap. He’s going to be expensive.
“If Everton are interested, then others might be prepared to just gamble because he’s a real, real good defender. A top-quality defender.
“Not the greatest on the ball but I’m sure there’ll be a few prepared to live with that, because of what he offers.”
Koulibaly has played over 200 games for Napoli in his near-seven year spell with the club.
This season, he has played 20 times in the league as Napoli sit fifth in Serie A.
