Danny Mills has tipped Eddie Nketiah to leave Leeds United and return to Arsenal in the January window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Elland Road defender claimed the Premier League club will look to activate the recall clause in Nketiah’s season-long loan as the transfer “hasn’t worked out”.

The England Under-21 international has scored five goals for Leeds despite being overlooked from the starting XI for of all 20 of their Championship matches this season.

Mills is convinced Arsenal will regard Nketiah’s lack of match action as far from ideal for his development.

This, in turn, will force Leeds to turn to the January transfer market to source a replacement.

Asked by Football Insider about possible Leeds January activity, Mills replied: “I assume Nketiah will go back to Arsenal. It hasn’t worked out for Arsenal, hasn’t been beneficial for Arsenal or Nketiah, so you have to replace him.”

Nketiah has made 14 appearances for the Yorkshire giants this season, spread across 454 minutes of action.

He has been used as a sub 12 times in league games, but Patrick Bamford has started all 20 league matches and Nketiah is still waiting for his first Championship start.

He was on the bench once again in Leeds’ 2-0 Championship win at Huddersfield on Saturday, replacing first choice spearhead Bamford with 13 minutes remaining.

It could be a similar situation tonight as second-placed United host Hull City in the league at Elland Road.

In the latest Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED there has been a major Ben White transfer development.
