Mills 'wowed' by Man City news as Chelsea handed 'incredible opportunity'
Danny Mills has claimed defeat to Chelsea would be a “damaging” psychological blow for Man City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-City and England defender admitted Chelsea have an “incredible opportunity to lay down a marker” in the title race.
Man City face an injury crisis ahead of Saturday’s clash at Stamford Bridge.
The Telegraph reported on September 22 both Aymeric Laporte and John Stones are doubts for the top of the table clash.
Pep Guardiola has lost all three meetings with Chelsea since Thomas Tuchel took over in January.
That includes the Champions League final last season when he selected Ilkay Gundogan to operate in defensive midfield.

“City fans will be hoping he’s learnt his lesson and he’s not going to over tinker with it,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“It’s a great opportunity for Chelsea, an incredible opportunity for them to lay down a marker. They look solid, difficult to beat.
“All of a sudden, if you’re at that stage, it’s going to be very, very difficult for City. Psychologically it can be quite damaging. They’ve already slipped up twice. If they were to lose now, you’d have to say ‘Wow, they are going to have to put on a run like never before to get out of this situation’.
“Last season they went on an incredible run, this season they would have to do something even more spectacular.”
City have already dropped points this season with a defeat to Spurs on the opening day and a 0-0 draw with Southampton last week.
They sit fifth in the Premier League, three points behind joint leaders Chelsea.
