‘Millwall defender Japhet Tanganga lined up for cut-price Premier League move’
Japhet Tanganga could be leaving Millwall this summer, and the centre-back may be available to Premier League clubs on an extremely cheap deal.
The 26-year-old spent 2023/24 on loan at the South London club, before completing a permanent switch from Tottenham at the end of the campaign.
Last season the former Spurs man excelled in the Championship, making 40 appearances for the Lions, as he won the Supporters’ Club Player of the Season award.
Alex Neil’s side were still in with a shot of the play-offs on the final day, but a 2-0 defeat to Burnley subjected them to an eighth-place finish.

Tanganga release clause revealed
Tanganga joined the Tottenham academy at the age of 10, rising through the ranks at the North London club, before eventually breaking into the first team.
However, despite making 27 league appearances for Spurs across four seasons, he failed to nail down a starting place and opted to drop into the Championship.
After two successful campaigns in the second tier, Tanganga could be set to return to the Premier League at a cut-price.
South London football reporter Richard Cawley (4 June) has revealed that the defender has a £1.2million release clause in his contract.
Cawley added that he believes the clause is only able to be activated by Premier League clubs.
Tanganga ready for step up
Back in January it was reported that Wolves had an interest in Tanganga, with the Midlands-based club looking to bolster their defence.
Ultimately, the move didn’t materialise, but the centre-back continued to impress for Millwall in the second half of the season.

At just over £1m, Tanganga would be a steal for a huge number of Premier League sides, and he has proved over the previous 18 months that he has the ability to perform at the top level.
Even while he was at Tottenham, the defender often showed glimpses of his talent, and with prior top-flight experience, he is well placed to slot straight back into the division.
Millwall will be desperate to hang onto their star man, but if Premier League clubs start sniffing around, it could be a long summer ahead for the Lions
