Milos Kerkez sends ‘next week’ message amid Bournemouth to Liverpool links

Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez has issued a hint that his future may lie away from the club amid the speculation that he will join Liverpool this summer.

The Hungary international has proven his worth for the Cherries this term, starting in all 38 of their Premier League games.

Largely thanks to the 21-year-old’s performances, the Dorset club have managed their highest ever points tally in the Premier League.

But the full-back’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, as Liverpool are ready to acquire Kerkez’s services and hand him a contract.

Kerkez helped Bournemouth defeat Leicester City 2-0 in their final game of the Premier League season on Sunday, 25 May, which could prove to be his last outing for the Cherries.

The 21-year-old revealed via Instagram [25 May]: “38 games, 38 started, we finished the job and broke the record, thanks to the fans and everyone for support, thanks to the gaffer for trusting me to start all 38 games and special thanks to the one above for keeping me safe and healthy and of course nothing would be possible without my family, I don’t know what will happen in next week but cherries family thank you!”

Kerkez’s impressive efforts in Bournemouth colours have been epitomised by his seven goal contributions from defence.

Manchester City look to hijack Liverpool move for Kerkez

If Liverpool successfully land the services of Kerkez, he could prove to be a successful addition for Arne Slot, who is looking to further strengthen his squad after winning the Premier League title in his first season in charge of the Anfield giants.

The Reds are closing in on a move for Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz, as well as his teammate Jeremie Frimpong, who could prove to be an adequate Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement.

But as Slot’s men set their sights on the Bournemouth man, Manchester City are reportedly looking to hijack Liverpool’s advances for Kerkez.

Whether the Hungary international will move to Anfield or the Etihad Stadium remains to be seen, but he will be a big loss for the Cherries either way.

Liverpool should fancy their chances of beating Pep Guardiola’s side to Kerkez’s signature, though, as his international teammate Dominik Szoboszlai already plies his trade for the Merseyside giants.
