Milos Kerkez: Update on Liverpool deal today
Liverpool are continuing to monitor the progress of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez and could make their move in the summer.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that a deadline-day deal for the 21-year-old is highly unlikely.
Kerkez has become one of the most highly-regarded left-backs in the Premier League thanks to his performances at the Vitality so far this season.
He has started every league game this term, helping Bournemouth rise to seventh in the table and just one point behind Man City in fourth place.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are planning for the future and have identified left-back as a key area for improvement in Arne Slot’s side.
There is a growing feeling that Andy Robertson is coming towards the end of his time at Anfield, while Kostas Tsimikas is no longer regarded as his successor.
Liverpool plot move to sign Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez
Brown told Football Insider in December that Kerkez is one of two names on Liverpool’s shortlist as they search for long-term replacements for Robertson.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that their interest remains strong but they will have to wait until the summer.
“He’s giving an impressive level of performance every time he plays,” he told Football Insider.
“I hear Liverpool have been keeping an eye on him because they’re interested in signing him.
“They’ve got two left-backs who have had questions about them this season and I’m not sure they’re considered long-term options any more.
“So Kerkez, at his age, represents a player who could be the future in that position.

“It’s not a deal that I think will happen in January, Bournemouth won’t want to lose him mid-way through the season and Liverpool don’t need him yet.
“But come the summer, I expect that will be something they revisit and see what their chances are.”
