Misfiring attacker must be axed: Three things we learned about Aston Villa from Middlesbrough draw

By Derek Smithson

Aston Villa recorded a goalless draw against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night and there were plenty of things learned from the result.

The Midlands giants once again failed to score in a league game as they draw 0-0 at home in the Championship.

Steve Bruce’s side are 18th-placed in the table after the opening seven games and have made a disappointing start to the new campaign.

It was fiery encounter between the two teams as ex-Villa man Adama Traore was sent off for the visitors in just the fourth minute, while Henri Lansbury picked up a red card for the hosts in the second-half.

Villa now turn their attention to an away clash against Barnsley on Saturday and will be looking to end their run of three consecutive draws.
