Newcastle United have been installed as the second favourites to sign Liverpool striker Danny Ings, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Sky Bet priced the Premier League club at 8/1 on Tuesday night to prise the forward from Anfield before the summer transfer window shut this month.
Newcastle are behind only Premier League club Burnley, who are 4/1 favourites to sign the striker they sold to the Merseysiders two years ago, in the betting running, while Scottish giants Celtic are also 8/1.
Ings, 25, is working his way back to match fitness after recovering from a second serious knee injury in two years.
He began his Liverpool career in impressive fashion with three goals in five matches but has only been able to accumulate 11 appearances for the club.
Newcastle are in the betting running to sign Ings after losing out in the race to sign Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo on loan.
The Magpies were one of a number of clubs pushing hard to land the young attacker but it was confirmed today (Wednesday) that he has agreed a season-long loan move to Championship club Fulham.
In other Celtic transfer news, Football Insider has revealed the Hoops are in the hunt to sign a dazzling attacking midfielder as late window interest to reach fever pitch.
