Mo Salah Liverpool exit: ‘Exceptional transfer window agreed for Al-Hilal move’
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah could leave for Al-Hilal after an “exceptional” transfer window was agreed by FIFA, reports The Telegraph.
The governing body have introduced an unprecedented third transfer window, as they try to encourage teams involved in the Club World Cup to make transfers ahead of the 2025 competition, hosted in the USA.
The new transfer window will exist from 1 June to 10 June, two days before the usual transfer window opens.
Al-Hilal have now emerged as the most likely destination for Salah if he does not renew his contract with Liverpool, although a January exit is not believed to be a possibility.
This news comes after the Saudi Pro League side cancelled Neymar’s contract, and the Brazilian looks set to return to his boyhood club, Santos.
Neymar’s departure has now created space in the squad, and the finances, to make a major signing.
Salah is out of contract at the end of the season, and has not yet signed an extension with the Reds as talks have stalled.
Salah has been a target for the SPL, which owns Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli and Al-Nassr, having failed with a £150million bid [The Telegraph] to sign the Egyptian in 2023.
Liverpool must do everything in their power to keep hold of Mohamed Salah
Football Insider Verdict
Salah is currently at the peak of his powers, and looks destined to win next years Balon D’Or.
The magnificent Egyptian has fired Liverpool to the top of both the Premier League, and Champions League tables.
In just 22 league games, the former Chelsea man leads the golden boot race with 19 goals, and also has an astonishing 13 assists.
Put simply, Salah would be impossible for the Merseyside team to replace, and letting him go for free would leave them without the resources to find anyone to fill his position.
Arne Slot has built a winning machine in his first season in charge, but losing Salah could bring that tumbling down.

Whilst the Egypt international has made it clear he would like to stay at Liverpool, the Reds risk ruining their relationship with Salah if they continue to drag their feet on a deal.
Liverpool would be unable to match the financial package on offer from a Saudi Arabian club, but Salah is currently performing at an unprecedented level in the Premier League, and is unlikely to want to leave while he still has so much to offer on the pitch.
Captain Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also out of contract in the summer, and if the Reds were to lose all three of their star men, the club would struggle to remain competitive in the coming seasons.
