‘Mohamed Salah could get stake in Al-Hilal after quitting Liverpool’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted it is “possible” for Mohamed Salah to be persuaded to quit Liverpool with an offer of equity in Saudi giants Al-Hilal.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 67-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the “fascinating” offer represents a “significant financial opportunity” for the Reds forward.
It has been widely reported that Saudi giants Al-Hilal have offered Salah a lucrative £65million, two-year contract with the forward set to become a free agent at the end of this season.
TBR Football have claimed (16 January) the forward could be given a tourism ambassador role the Middle East, similar to Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo, or even get the option to acquire equity in the club he signs for this summer.
Salah has indicated his desire to remain with Liverpool but has repeatedly admitted that no deal is close with the Merseysiders.
He could join the likes of Lionel Messi and David Beckham in getting the opportunity to part-own a club as part of a transfer deal.
Salah could quit Liverpool for ‘fascinating’ club ownership role in Saudi, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Being the tourism ambassador, that’s got to be a big draw for him.
“Ronaldo has done a great job in that role.
“Certainly, getting a share in Al-Hilal is possible. It’s happening more and more across the world now.
“It would be fascinating, given the way the Saudi league and Saudi football is poised to develop in the coming years.
“Tax is very low in Saudi Arabia, so there won’t be many tax breaks needed for Salah.
“He would see a significant difference in his tax bill and wage slip if he did make the move.

“There’s no doubt this is a significant financial opportunity for Mo.
“But I think it would still be on the table next year, 2026.”
