Mohamed Salah exit: ‘Long-term secret talks’ emerge to leave Liverpool
Paris Saint Germain and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah have been in talks over a free transfer next summer for “a long time”, according to talkSPORT’s European correspondent Andy Brassell.
The Egyptian forward has just six months left on his current deal at Anfield, with the Reds risking losing the Premier League and Champions League winner.
L’Equipe have reported denials from the French giants but according to Brassell that is wide of the mark, and a deal is possible as early as New Year’s Day, although he suggested this information coming out might be part of the attacking star’s strategy to get the offer he wants from Liverpool.
He said on talkSPORT: “PSG have denied [being in talks], but sources are claiming that the two parties have been in discussions for a long time, except that this time Mohamed Salah has opened the door.
“So, of course, he could officially sign for PSG if he wanted to from January 1. It’s not a long time away now. Publicly, PSG’s position is, we’re happy we moved past the superstar era. If they get an opportunity to sign Mohamed Salah, there is no way they are turning it down. There is absolutely no way they are turning it down.
“Now, whether Mohamed Salah wants this news to leak, so he can put a bit of pressure on Liverpool, that would not surprise me. What an opportunity that would be for PSG.”

The 32-year-old already has recorded 11 goals and seven assists in 13 games for the Reds in the Premier League this season, as they sit top and nine points ahead of rivals Man City, having registered one of each in the 2-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s side at Anfield on Sunday.

Salah has been the Kop’s talisman for years, with his goals and assists playing a crucial role in the team’s success. He is currently the fifth-highest scorer in Liverpool’s history, with 224 goals in 368 matches, and is the only active player in the top 20 of that list.
The Reds superstar has played a crucial role in helping the club win the Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup. His experience, mindset, professionalism and leadership in the dressing room will be greatly missed.
So the current high-stakes stand-off between the Egyptian and the club over his future will have a major bearing on the immediate future at Anfield, and across the top flight.
The Kop ace’s injury record is also exceptional, having missed only 38 games in his entire career for the Reds, and prior to last season, he didn’t miss a single game for two consecutive campaigns.
Indications are that he would prefer to stay, but PSG have a track record in picking up a club’s star player on a free transfer despite him not wanting to leave [BBC].
