Mohamed Salah is ‘finished’ at Liverpool after ‘big surprise’, he’s ‘going soon’
Mo Salah is unlikely to ever play for Liverpool again and his time at the club is over following his outburst at manager Arne Slot.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes the relationship between the pair is now “irreparable.”
Salah was left out of Liverpool’s squad against Inter after he said he had been “thrown under the bus” by the club, and that he now has no relationship with Slot.
The 33-year-old’s comments came immediately after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw at Leeds, which saw the Egyptian start on the bench for the third successive game.
‘Bombshell’ Salah quotes shock Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Salah will be departing Liverpool in the upcoming January transfer window.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness did not predict that Salah would speak out against Slot or the club.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, it did come as a bit of a bombshell, to be honest. And I think somebody had pointed out, it’s only about the fourth time he’s spoken in eight years.
“And so he obviously knows that his words are going to carry a lot of weight. They seem to be very ill-chosen. I was genuinely surprised at what he came out with about being thrown under the bus in particular.
“Look, it just smacks of somebody who feels like the pressure is on him because his form has dipped, and he’s looking to blame other people rather than looking in the mirror and blaming himself. I was disappointed in him, to be honest.
“I do believe that no player is bigger than the club. You look at the heritage and history of Liverpool, and Mo Salah should be quite happy that he’s actually had the platform of Liverpool to put his talents on display. Look, nobody’s doubting he’s done a fantastic job over there. But it has ended, I think.
“It is now irreparable, in my view. And I think he will be gone in January. So I think it’s going to be difficult for anybody on both sides now to really, there’ll always be something there that just, the trust is gone. So just very surprised by the way he did it. He could have bitten his tongue, said it internally, but the way he did it publicly was the big surprise.”

Mo Salah looks set for Saudi move
Salah is of high interest to the Saudi Pro League, who have previously pursued the forward before he signed a new deal at Liverpool in April.
Liverpool did not miss Salah during their 1-0 win over Inter in the Champions League, and he will be at the African Cup of Nations from next week.
It was an important victory for Slot amid the pressure that the Dutchman has come under in recent weeks due to Liverpool’s stuttering form.
