Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs considering a move for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

While a move to the Saudi Pro League is considered most likely for the 33-year-old, a number of European giants have been put on alert over his availability.

Sources say the likes of Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich would be some of the only clubs in Europe capable of matching his lofty wage demands.

However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, the trio of big-spending clubs are unlikely to make a move for Salah.

It is currently considered highly unlikely that Salah will remain in Europe after announcing his imminent departure from Anfield, while Liverpool are now scrambling for replacements.

European giants consider move to sign Mohamed Salah

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 15 February that Salah was set to leave Liverpool this summer, given his fractured relationship with Arne Slot.

The official announcement of his exit still came as a surprise to many, but has put clubs across world football on alert in case they can tempt him into a move.

Salah remains one of the most highly-regarded players in Europe and continues to prove his worth to Liverpool, despite a move to Saudi Arabia appearing most likely.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “There is a possibility Salah wants to stay in Europe and feels he can still compete at the highest level possible.

“But there’s probably only a handful of clubs who could afford to pay his rages.

“That would include the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, who will have taken note of the fact he’s going to be available on a free.

“But I’m not sure those clubs would be banging the door down to sign Mohamed Salah as well.

“So right now, as things stand, all signs point to a move to the Saudi Pro League for Salah.”

Saudi Pro League clubs prepare to step up Salah moves

Despite interest from some top European clubs, a move to the Middle East remains the most likely move for Salah, with clubs now set to step up their interest.

Football Insider revealed on 27 March that Saudi clubs are preparing moves for Salah and hope to finally lure him to the Pro League after years of trying.

The 33-year-old has been the top target for Middle Eastern clubs for years now, as a £150million bid for his signature was rebuffed by the Reds in 2023.

Clubs are prepared to make Salah the face of the league and offer a mega-money deal which could see him rival Cristiano Ronaldo’s superstar status.

This would see him join former Reds teammates including Darwin Nunez and Fabinho, while seeing out the closing stages of his career.
