Mohamed Salah ‘very happy at Liverpool’ with ‘deal as good as done’
Mohamed Salah is “very happy” at Liverpool despite his current deal being set to expire at the end of the season, claims Anfield legend Emile Heskey.
The Egyptian star has had eight goal and trophy-drenched seasons at the Merseyside giants, notching 240 goals in 386 appearances across all competitions, and could be set to win the Premier League for the second time.
However, the 32-year-old’s future has been shrouded by uncertainty, with the 2024/25 campaign possibly being his last in Liverpool colours, with Al Hilah in “pole position” for Salah’s signature.
Paul Robinson exclusively told Football Insider that new Liverpool deals for Salah and Virgil van Dijk are “as good as done”, but some at Anfield are not as convinced.
Mohamed Salah’s last 5 Premier League seasons | Games played | Goals scored | Assists |
2024/2025 (Current) | 26 | 24 | 15 |
2023/24 | 32 | 18 | 10 |
2022/23 | 38 | 19 | 22 |
2021/22 | 35 | 23 | 13 |
2020/21 | 37 | 22 | 5 |
Mohamed Salah is ‘very settled at Liverpool’ as talks intensify
Speaking via talkSPORT [21 February], Heskey said: “I actually thought yes [he would stay at Liverpool] but I’m 50/50 at the minute because I thought it would have been sorted by now.
“I think he’s very settled at Liverpool, with his family and everything – he’s very much a family man. He seems very happy and settled. I just thought it would have been sorted now so I’m 50/50 about whether it’ll be done.”
Arne Slot to oversee Liverpool summer rebuild
Football Insider verdict
Arne Slot has done incredibly well, given he inherited a squad from Jurgen Klopp and has been unable to really put much of his own twist on the calibre of players.
The Reds could finish the season with another Premier League trophy, the Champions League title and the EFL Cup stored away in the trophy cabinet at Anfield.
Supporters, though, are far more concerned with the futures of Salah, van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the latter being heavily linked with Real Madrid.
Mick Brown has already told Football Insider that the Reds do not expect a final decision from the Liverpool defender until June.
Conor Bradley has already proven himself to be a decent successor to the England international but losing all three stars in the same summer would be an awful blow for Slot.
No other player has made such an impact in the final third as Salah, and there are few footballers in the world who could replace him on the right flank.
There are some incredibly difficult decisions to be made before the summer transfer window opens up, leaving supporters in suspense until news is finally confirmed on the trio’s futures.
