Mohamed Salah ‘will decide’ about leaving Liverpool after ‘surprise’ claim
Real Madrid could launch a “surprising” move for Mohamed Salah once he approaches the end of his new contract at Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.
Salah committed his future to Liverpool by signing a two-year deal in April to extend his stay at Anfield until 2027, and will have seen out 10 seasons as one of the Reds’ greatest-ever players when it expires.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Salah will have his pick of clubs when he does decide to leave Liverpool, and has now been linked to one of their European rivals.
Football Insider revealed on Friday that Salah isn’t guaranteed to see out the next two years at Liverpool and could soon make a decision on his future, with the Saudi Pro League his most probable destination.
However, my sources have stated that Real Madrid have been linked with a surprise move for Salah, and he could be set to follow Trent Alexander-Arnold and possibly Ibrahima Konate to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Sources have told Football Insider that Madrid’s interest in Salah, he is unlikely to make such a move so late in his career, but will be open to offers from all suitors when he leaves Liverpool as a 35-year-old in 2027.

Real Madrid ready to join Mohamed Salah bidding war
Keith Wyness told Football Insider in June that Saudi Pro League clubs will return with improved offers for Salah and Bruno Fernandes, who chose to stay put at Liverpool and Manchester United respectively.
Liverpool will be in no hurry to do business with Madrid after Alexander-Arnold’s exit and their continued pursuit of the out-of-contract Konate, and the prospect of Salah making the same move is unthinkable.
“Real Madrid? Real Madrid are getting linked with everybody”, I said on the new Inside Track podcast.
“I’d be surprised if Madrid were to make a move for Salah now – maybe at this stage of his career, that opportunity has gone by.
“Mo Salah, just look at his CV. If he does end up doing these two years at Anfield and moving on, he will have a pick of clubs of where he wants to go to, so it’ll be one of those ones.
“Mo Salah will probably decide what he wants to do, rather than anybody else.”

Liverpool line up Mohamed Salah replacement amid exit links
Football Insider revealed on 8 September that Real Madrid are ready to cause Liverpool more misery by potentially beating them to Marc Guehi’s signing next summer, after his own move to Anfield collapsed.
While this would surely allow Liverpool to retain Konate, Real Madrid having Guehi and Alexander-Arnold in their defensive line and potentially Salah in their attack will be an unpalatable thought at Anfield.
Liverpool have identified Michael Olise as a well-suited replacement for Salah, but they’d much rather retain for the Egyptian for as long as they can before he rides off into the sunset in anywhere but Madrid.
