‘Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham faces collapse after West Ham decision’

Tottenham are at risk of missing out on a deal to sign West Ham star Mohammed Kudus after seeing their initial bid rejected.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson explained that he has doubts over whether the club will be prepared to meet West Ham’s lofty asking price.

The 24-year-old is widely expected to leave the London Stadium for below his £80million release clause, but the Hammers will stand firm to receive a good fee.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 2 July that West Ham have rejected Tottenham’s bid for Kudus after an offer of £50million plus £5million in add-ons was tabled.

Instead, the Ghana international’s other suitors have been backed to beat Spurs to his signature as the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle continue to keep an eye on the situation.

This comes after former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Chelsea want to sign Kudus and are prepared to rival Thomas Frank’s side in their pursuit.

Tottenham could miss out on Mohammed Kudus after Chelsea claim

Brown told Football Insider in April that West Ham will accept offers for Kudus below his £80million release clause, as neither Spurs nor Chelsea are willing to meet it.

While Tottenham’s interest is advances after holding talks with the forward, his camp, and West Ham, there is a growing feeling they could miss out.

Robinson explained that West Ham could price them out of a deal as they will not be prepared to spend as freely as their rivals for his signature.

As far as getting a deal over the line, I’m not so sure,” he told Football Insider.

“I’m not sure Tottenham will stump up the asking price that West Ham want.

“He signed for around £40million, he’s contracted until 2028, plus the club have got an option [to extend his deal by one year] on him.

“He’s not a player who’s going to be released easily, but FFP and PSR could play a part and mean West Ham have to sell to buy.

“If there are other people at the table for Kudus, I’m not sure Tottenham will be able to reach the price others will pay for him.

“The thing that would potentially cupper this deal would be West Ham pricing them out.”

Evann Guessand update emerges as Spurs join West Ham in race

While Kudus has emerged as Spurs’ top target as they aim to bring in a new dynamic forward, they are also considering a number of alternative options.

Football Insider revealed on 4 July that Tottenham want to sign Evann Guessand and are prepared to race the likes of West Ham, Brighton and Wolves for his signature.

Nice are bracing themselves for interest in Guessand over the coming weeks and are reluctant to let him leave after qualifying for the Champions League.

The Ligue 1 outfit have set a £20-25million asking price for the forward, who has three years remaining on his contract, after he scored 12 goals and picked up seven assists last term.
