Moises Caicedo reacts to Cole Palmer announcement at Chelsea
Chelsea posted an announcement relating to star man Cole Palmer on social media drawing a reaction from teammate Moises Caicedo.
The Blues’ Champions League charge took a dent when they lost 2-0 to Newcastle, with Nicolas Jackson’s red card dominating much of the post-match discussions.
But with a match against their historic rivals Man United up next, Chelsea have the opportunity to draw level with the Magpies on points.
With all their focus on the upcoming Europa League final against Tottenham, Ruben Amorim has been fielding weakened sides domestically in recent weeks.
A win against the Red Devils would leave Enzo Maresca’s side needing just a draw against an out-of-sorts Nottingham Forest on the final day of the season to guarantee their spot in Europe’s most prestigious competition next season.

Cole Palmer nominated for Premier League’s Young Player of the Season
Ahead of their clash with United, Chelsea announced on their Instagram page that Palmer had been nominated for the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season.
The post was captioned: “Palmer has been nominated for the Premier League Young Player of the Season award.”
The former Man City man is the current holder of the award, and if he were to win it again, he would become only the sixth player to do so, after Ryan Giggs, Robbie Fowler, Wayne Rooney, Dele Alli, and Phil Foden.
However, the Blues’ star faces stiff competition from Chelsea target Liam Delap, Anthony Elanga, Ryan Gravenberch, Dean Huijsen, Joao Pedro, Morgan Rogers, and William Saliba.
The post was liked by Caicedo, with the Ecuadorian midfielder showing support for his talented teammate.
Chelsea over-reliance on Cole Palmer taking its toll
Football Insider Verdict
Chelsea’s squad is flush with talent, so much so that some of the world’s best young talents like Aaron Anselmino, Marc Guiu, and Mathis Amougou cannot get a look in.
But for all their squad depth, the Blues’ success seemingly starts and ends with Palmer.
The England international has featured in all but one of their Premier League games, playing 3,015 minutes out of an available 3,240.

The lack of rest has been telling, the ex-City midfielder started hot this season but his output and performances have tailed off with a lack of rotational options.
Heading into next season, Chelsea may need to find an alternative to their star man or risk another burnout like the one he has suffered at the tail end of this campaign.
