Moises Caicedo shares reaction to Facundo Buonanotte’s embarrassing update at Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo shared his instant reaction after the club confirmed a surprising update regarding Facundo Buonanotte.

Chelsea will return to Champions League action on 17 September, beginning their campaign with a difficult trip to Germany to face Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

After Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw with Brentford in their latest outing in the Premier League, the Blues will be desperate to bounce back.

One player that wasn’t initially set to be part of their European campaign was new signing Buonanotte.

Buonanotte was not included in Chelsea’s squad list for the Champions League, despite signing on loan from Brighton in the summer window.

However, the club have since made an embarrassing U-turn on that decision, with Caicedo quick to react to the latest update.

Chelsea add Facundo Buonanotte to Champions League squad list

Chelsea have confirmed Buonanotte will join the Champions League squad after Daniel Essugo suffered an injury whilst on international duty.

The club announced the decision on Instagram, which drew a reaction from midfielder Caicedo, who liked the post.

Buonanotte had an underwhelming Chelsea debut against Brentford and was subsequently substituted off at half-time.

His performance appeared to highlight his position further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, which is why the initial move raised eyebrows.

Buonanotte was also in talks to sign for Leeds in the window, with a high possibility he would’ve featured more regularly after the Whites decided against signing Manor Solomon.

The Brighton loanee enjoyed a spell at Leicester City last term, and while the Foxes suffered relegation, the Argentine impressed in flashes.

Now, the 20-year-old faces competition from the likes of Cole Palmer, Tyrique George and Estevao, who occupy similar positions, but now has a chance to impress in Europe.

Chelsea join race to sign Marc Guehi amid competition

While the club were active in the transfer market, the hierarchy are already laying plans for the next window.

Football Insider revealed Chelsea are the latest club to show interest in Marc Guehi, with the Crystal Palace captain entering the final few months of his contract.

The centre-back left Stamford Bridge in 2021, and with a deadline day move to Liverpool collapsing, the Blues join the likes of Man City and Real Madrid in monitoring Guehi’s situation ahead of the January window.
