Monk delivers Leeds transfer update that will delight fans

By Harvey Byrne

Manager Garry Monk has revealed that he would still like to bring in “one or two” new players to Leeds this month, stating that the club is still working hard to secure their targets.

The Yorkshire giants have secured Pablo Hernandez on a permanent deal this month after he initially joined on loan, but he remains their only deal so far.

However, Monk gave an update on the transfer situation in his pre-match press conference on Thursday, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter page, sharing that the club were still pushing ahead with making further additions.

The news will delight fans as they are eager to see a few more additions to add to an already impressive squad as they push for a return to the Premier League for the first time in 13 years.

Leeds are currently sat in third place in the English second tier and many supporters believe some solid additions in the winter will see them in a good position for the second half of the campaign.

The club made a number of good signings in the summer, including the likes of Pontus Jansson, Kyle Bartley and Luke Ayling and Monk will now be looking to bring in a similar quality to his squad.

Football Insider verdict:

It is clear that the Leeds team needs a couple of additions, but not too much. The squad is currently blessed in a lot of positions, but the forward area looks particularly weak behind Chris Wood. Neither Souleymane Doukara or Marcus Antonsson will be the players to help Leeds make the top flight and goals are all important in the race for promotion. Therefore, if Monk is to make any further additions this month then he must ensure that one of them is a top quality Championship proven goalscorer to compete with the New Zealand international for the striker role.
