Monk will be worried about these three players ahead of Leeds clash v Fulham
COMMENT By Dominic Toner
Leeds travel to Fulham on Tuesday night in the Championship and could take a huge stride towards obtaining a play-off spot with a victory.
The Whites are currently fourth in the league table and have won three of their last four matches.
Meanwhile, their upcoming opponents are seventh-placed in the league and are trying to force their way into the play-off spots.
The Londoners are currently eight points adrift of Leeds with a game in hand and could crank up the pressure with a win.
Football Insider looks at three Fulham players that Garry Monk will be wary of ahead of the league meeting.
Tom Cairney
Fulham playmaker Tom Cairney has been the standout performer for the club this season and will be a huge test for Leeds to overcome. The 26-year-old has dominated Championship matches this campaign and is being tipped to make the step up to the top-flight. The attacking midfielder has been influential for his team and has played a main role in their bid for promotion. He has featured in 37 appearances this season, scoring seven goals and supplying 11 assists. Leeds will go a long way to stopping the threat of Fulham if they can nullify Cairney, who is particularly dangerous around the edge of the box.
Ryan Sessegnon
Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon is one of the most-talked about youngsters in English football and is expected to become a future star. The 16-year-old has made the step up into the first-team and made 20 senior appearances. He is blessed with phenomenal energy at left-back and is likely to push forward and challenge Leeds’ Luke Ayling. He has shown his attacking intent with four goals this season and has great technical ability. Sessegnon’s pace and growing reputation will be a concern for Monk, who will be hoping to keep the youngster quiet.
Chris Martin
Fulham’s top scorer Chris Martin will be confident going into the Leeds clash after ending his recent goal drought in the 3-1 win over Preston. The striker netted his 11th goal of the season in the last match and will now hope to fire his side to the play-off positions. He has been the club’s most prolific scorer this season and has proved he can be clinical in front of goal. Leeds’ centre-back pairing Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson will hope to keep him quiet and will be wary of his threat. Martin has been a consistent scorer in the Championship during his career and has managed 80 goals in 248 appearances, during spells with Fulham, Derby, Norwich and Crystal Palace.
