Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes that Tottenham star Harry Kane could make history and break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goal record.
The 24-year-old has been imperious in front of goal since establishing himself among the first team at Spurs, netting over 20 league goals in each of the last three seasons.
He has picked up two consecutive top flight golden boot awards, having finished one strike off the 30-goal mark last season, and is on course to complete a hat trick of awards as he currently sits joint first in the top scorers’ list alongside Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero.
Despite the England striker playing for Arsenal’s fierce rivals, Wright has been raving his goal scoring talents, and says he believes Shearer’s record of 260 Premier League strikes is under serious threat from the Tottenham forward.
Speaking on the Premier League’s official website, he said: “(Kane’s) literally a monster, a goal monster, he wants to score every single attempt he has on goal.
“If he stays in the Premier League, I believe that he will run Shearer’s 260 very, very close. I rate Harry Kane very, very highly.”
Kane will be hoping to continue his fine goal scoring form, which has seen him net 13 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions, when Spurs travel across London for the north London derby on Saturday.
He has scored six goals in five games against the Gunners, and Spurs have not tasted defeat against their fierce rivals in any of the last six league clashes, with Tomas Rosicky’s strike securing a 1-0 win back in September 2015 for Arsenal’s last win.
In other Tottenham news, David Ginola has been left raving over Daniel Levy after this multi-million pound revelation.
