Morgan Rogers and Asensio respond to Marcus Rashford’s ‘comeback’ hint at Aston Villa

Marcus Rashford posted a promising update following his injury setback as speculation grows over where he will be playing next season.

Rashford had been in excellent form for Aston Villa before suffering an injury last month that has ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Despite Unai Emery’s desire to keep Rashford at Villa Park beyond this season, the club’s financial situation could complicate matters.

He is currently earning £350,000 a week, and unless he agrees to a significant wage reduction, his time in the Midlands may be coming to an end.

While Villa prepare for a crucial fixture against Rashford’s parent club Manchester United this weekend, the player shared a post on social media that may hint at where his future lies.

Marcus Rashford sends motivated message in training return amid Barcelona interest

The Englishman posted on Instagram with pictures from Aston Villa’s training ground, showing he is still committed to the club despite not being able to play again.

He added the caption: “Outside running again! 79% of my maximum speed. The comeback is always better than the setback.”

The post attracted plenty of attention from teammates, with Morgan Rogers, Emi Martinez, and fellow loanee Marco Asensio among those engaging with the update.

Rashford has rediscovered his form during his loan spell at Villa, but the financial side of any permanent move could prove to be a stumbling block.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Rashford would be open to a move to Barcelona this summer. However, the Spanish giants are also facing serious financial challenges, which means any deal is more likely to be another loan.

With Manchester United to miss out on European football next season, the club is under pressure to raise funds—so the possibility of another loan exit for Rashford may not be on the table.

Aston Villa identify Harvey Barnes as potential Rashford replacement

Amid ongoing uncertainty over whether Rashford will remain at Villa Park, the club have already begun weighing up alternatives.

Football Insider revealed that Aston Villa are targeting Newcastle United winger Harvey Barnes as a potential replacement for Rashford this summer.

Barnes has stepped up impressively in Anthony Gordon’s absence, starting the last 10 consecutive Premier League matches and delivering strong performances.

However, his overall minutes this season have been limited, and Newcastle could look to cash in on him to generate funds for a move to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.
