Morgan Rogers and Jacob Ramsey exits: ‘Huge surprise’ update emerges at Aston Villa
Morgan Rogers and Jacob Ramsey could be major exits from Aston Villa this summer with both attackers attracting interest.
The midfield duo have been mainstays when fit in the Villa side under Unai Emery, with the 53-year-old favouring their versatility and reliability over other options.
Rogers and Ramsey have accumulated 5,447 minutes between them so far this season, helping the Villians in their pursuit for consecutive Champions League qualification while reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Villa currently sit three-points behind Manchester City in fifth, which is expected to be enough to secure a place in Europe’s top competition ahead of next season, with eight games remaining.
However, even if the Villans are able to achieve their goals this campaign the club’s summer transfer window plans could require exits according to David Ornstein, who believes it would not be a “huge surprise” to see someone go, with the pair attracting interest from top side’s across the world.

Rogers and Ramsey generating big admirers
In a Q&A with The Athletic, one Villa fan asked if the club’s plans would be affected by finishing outside the Champions League, in which Ornstein said: “Villa always seem to plan well — even if that planning must consider different scenarios and budgets based on factors like European competition — and they always seem to be busy.
“Let’s see if they turn Marcus Rashford into a permanent signing for £40million as a starting point.
“An outgoing wouldn’t come as a huge surprise; there are always clubs looking at Jacob Ramsey, while Morgan Rogers is generating some big admirers.
“That is not to say these guys are leaving and certainly the club will not want to lose their best players.
“But it will be another big summer as Villa look to kick on again.”

Losing Rogers or Ramsey would be a huge blow for Villa
Football Insider verdict
If you could name two players current players that suit Emery’s tactical preference, it would be Rogers and Ramsey.
Playing in a role which is unorthodox, the Spaniard likes his wide players to tuck inside in order to utilise the half-spaces left by the opposition.
This not only creates an overload in midfield, but affords the full-backs freedom to get forward and create the width.

Finding players that are capable of providing the same energy, awareness and quality as Rogers and Ramsey will be a tough ask for Emery, if he is to lose one or both in the summer.
The summer transfer window will be one of priorities for Villa, especially if they do not have the allure or financial power which Champions League football brings.
The club are yet to decide whether they want to trigger the £40 million option in Marcus Rashford’s loan deal from Manchester United, with the England international playing for his future between now and the end of the season.
Perhaps the only benefit of this situation is the fact that Rogers was brought to the club for around £16 million and Ramsey is an academy graduate whose sale would go down as complete profit.
The fee to sanction any sale for either of the midfielders would be considerable higher than what they were brought to the club for, therefore it may allow Villa to explore strengthening other areas of the team in the summer.
Undoubtedly, Emery will not want to lose either of Rogers or Ramsey, however a sale could provide Villa with the funds to become a more well rounded team.
