Morgan Rogers and James McAtee respond as Liam Delap bids farewell to Ipswich fans
Liam Delap left a heartfelt post to Ipswich fans after his exit from the club was confirmed.
Delap was a rare bright spark in what proved to be a dismal 2024/25 season for Ipswich Town in their return to the Premier League.
Despite the team’s struggles and eventual relegation, the striker stood out with an impressive return of 12 Premier League goals, finishing as the club’s top scorer.
His consistent performances quickly attracted interest from several top-flight sides, and with a £30 million relegation clause in place, a summer move always looked likely.
Chelsea fans had been vocal in urging the club to sign Delap, especially after it was reported that he preferred a switch to West London despite interest from rivals.
Following confirmation of his move to Chelsea, Delap shared an emotional farewell message to Ipswich supporters, thanking them for their support throughout what was a challenging but personally rewarding campaign.

Chelsea confirm Liam Delap signing as striker pens emotional message to Ipswich fans
Delap has officially completed his move to Chelsea and shared a heartfelt farewell to Ipswich Town following his departure.
The striker took to Instagram to confirm his exit from the Tractor Boys, posting a message that read:
“Thank you for everything, Ipswich Town.
“The team, manager, staff & club have been incredible from the moment I arrived.
“To the fans, I appreciate the support you gave me week in week out, from the stands at home and on the road. I’m sure this club will be back in the Premier League soon, where it belongs.
“I’ll never forget my time at the Town! Now it’s time for a new challenge.”
His post received a wave of support from fellow players, including former Manchester City academy teammates. Morgan Rogers responded with multiple heart emojis, while James McAtee commented: “Big man!”
Other players such as Nathan Ake and Kalvin Phillips also liked the post, showing appreciation for the 21-year-old’s move.
The England striker enjoyed an impressive individual campaign in the Premier League despite Ipswich’s relegation, netting 12 goals, which is two more than Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, who endured a dip in form towards the end of the season, finishing with 10.
While clubs including Newcastle and Man United were keen on Delap, his previous connection with Enzo Maresca, who coached him during his time in Manchester City’s academy, may have swayed the move in Chelsea’s favour.
Nicolas Jackson faces uncertain future amid Chelsea striker overhaul

Delap’s arrival at Stamford Bridge has cast fresh doubt over Jackson’s long-term role, with Chelsea expected to make further attacking additions this summer.
The Senegal international had been Maresca’s preferred option up front but has struggled for consistency, scoring just one Premier League goal in 2025.
With the club actively exploring the market, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike is among the targets for Chelsea, indicating the club could add another striker to the squad in addition to Delap.
As competition intensifies, Jackson’s place could be under serious threat.
Some Chelsea supporters have already called for Jackson to be moved on, particularly following reports of interest from La Liga clubs. With Delap now confirmed and other reinforcements being lined up, Chelsea may be open to offers for the former Villarreal man.
