Morgan Rogers bids farewell after confirmed Aston Villa exit news

Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers took to social media to say his goodbyes to Jhon Duran after his departure.

Duran, 21, left the Premier League side to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Saudi club Al Nassr for a reported fee of £71million, putting pen to paper on a five-and-a-half-year deal.

The Colombia international was an unused substitute in Villa’s 4-2 Champions League win over Celtic on Wednesday (January 29), with his last appearance coming in their 1-1 draw with West Ham.

Football Insider revealed (January 31) that Villa could be set for a late January transfer blitz after the sale of Duran to Saudi Arabia.

Duran averaged a goal every 87 minutes at Aston Villa this season, that puts him ahead of the likes of Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah.

Unai Emery’s side may be set to lose another striker after Football Insider revealed Arsenal are hoping to leverage Ollie Watkins’ support to try and force a move.

Rogers, 22, has established himself as a key player for Villa this season, starting all 31 of his games across all competitions, scoring ten goals, and providing five assists in his 2599 minutes of action.

The forward took to Instagram to say goodbye to Duran, sharing an image of the two and simply saying: “Gonna miss you my brother.”

Rogers had a starring role in the 4-2 win over Celtic, scoring a hattrick and securing a place in the round of 16, an achievement that appeared to impress former teammate Cole Palmer.

Villa remain in contention for Champions League qualification come the end of the season despite frustrating draws against Arsenal and West Ham in their previous two fixtures.
