Morgan Rogers, Jacob Ramsey react to Donyell Malen amid Aston Villa exit rumours
Morgan Rogers and Jacob Ramsey reacted to Donyell Malen’s recent post as the winger jets out of Aston Villa for the summer.
Unai Emery‘s side ultimately tasted disappointment at the end of the 2024/25 campaign, missing out on Champions League qualification on goal difference, and via a massive refereeing mistake.
Aston Villa were tipped to take legal action after Thomas Bramall disallowed Rogers’ goal to take the lead against Man United on the final day, where Altay Bayindir was not in control of the ball.
Despite going a goal down through Amad Diallo, and not conceding a second until the 87th minute, Malen was only called upon for the final six minutes of the game, fuelling the rumours of a possible exit.
The 26-year-old would have been hugely disappointed to be left out of the Villans’ Champions League squad after signing during the winter transfer window, sparking suggestions that he could leave already.

Donyell Malen jets away for international duty with the Netherlands
Taking to Instagram (3 June), Malen shared a series of images as he arrived at the Netherlands’ training camp ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Finland and Malta.
Captioning the post with his country’s flag, Rogers, Ramsey, and Xavi Simons all liked the post following the winger’s rollercoaster of a first six months in England.
Despite the speculation around his future at Villa Park, Football Insider understands that Villa have been impressed enough by Malen’s performances not to sell him this summer.
Unai Emery at risk of Aston Villa exodus after Champions League blow
Football Insider verdict
Villa’s financial issues are very well known across the Premier League, with PSR likely to play a huge role in the club’s transfer plans ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Youri Tielemans has already been linked with a Villa exit to drop the Villans below the financial threshold, but supporters are not likely to want the Belgian to seal a move away following an incredible season.
The Villans will instead be playing Europa League football next season, having finished just above Nottingham Forest, who lost 1-0 to Chelsea on the final day of the Premier League season.

Supporters are concerned, and understandably so, but Villa do not plan to entertain offers for Rogers amid serious interest from Man City, who developed the player in their academy.
That will be one of the biggest worries, alongside Ollie Watkins and Emi Martinez’s futures, with Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio potentially unlikely to return following stellar loan spells at Villa Park.
Malen can certainly help if any stars are to leave this summer, but unless Emery gives him a bigger chance to prove himself, it may not be long until the player actually wants a move away himself.
