Morgan Rogers responds as star drops hint he is about to sign for Aston Villa

Lamare Bogarde received a cryptic message as Aston Villa close in on their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Unai Emery faces a summer of transition after a drop-off in form towards the end of the season saw Villa finish outside the Champions League places on goal difference, as well as lose their FA Cup semi-final.

Villa’s sixth-placed position comes as a result of their controversial final-day loss to Manchester United on 25 May, which saw a Morgan Rogers goal ruled out by Thomas Bramall before VAR could intervene.

European football for a third straight season just six years after Villa achieved promotion remains a clear indicator of the job Emery has done at Villa Park, but a difficult transfer window could be on the cards.

Redmond responds to Bogarde ahead of Aston Villa transfer

Able to operate at right-back, centre-back and in central midfield, Bogarde has been a valued utility man for Emery’s side throughout this season with nine starts from his 16 appearances in all competitions.

Ahead of a window in which sales are expected in order for Villa to tow the line with PSR regulations, Bogarde could be one who attracts interest after Nottingham Forest bid £4million for him last summer.

The Dutchman reflected on his campaign with a post on Instagram (31 May), in which he said: “Thanks for your unconditional support, Villans!

“It’s been a tough and long season, but your loyalty never wavered. I can’t wait to battle alongside you again. See you next season!”

Exit-linked Villa and England star Morgan Rogers responded to call Bogarde “My brother”, as Feyenoord striker Zepiqueno Redmond left a ‘side-eyes’ emoji amid reports that he could be on his way to Villa Park.

Aston Villa medical booked as deal finalised

Football Insider revealed on 30 May that Redmond’s medical at Bodymoor Heath is set to take place in the next few days, as Villa prepare to wrap up the 18-year-old’s signature on a free transfer this summer.

Tottenham and Bournemouth had both been keen on Redmond when his exit from Feyenoord became clear, but Villa look set to win the race despite the former being able to offer Champions League football.

Rogers, could be one of Emery’s key men sold against his will though, and the arrival of an unproven teenage striker will struggle to make up for the disappointment if Rogers makes a move to a cash-rich club like Manchester City or Chelsea.
