Morgan Rogers responds to message after Arsenal deal agreed

Morgan Rogers has sent a message of support to Bukayo Saka after it was announced that he has officially signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal.

Arsenal confirmed that Saka had put pen to paper on a new deal at his boyhood club on Thursday afternoon.

The 24-year-old has made close to 300 appearances for the Gunners since his senior debut in November 2018, having spent 10 years playing for their academy sides.

His previous contract was set to expire in 2027, and despite the club deciding not to reveal the length of his extension, the BBC claimed earlier this week that Saka was set to sign a new five-year deal until 2031.

He has not been at his best for the Gunners so far in this campaign, with seven goals in 34 appearances, but will be hoping for a strong end to the season to help fire them to Premier League glory.

Rogers replies to Saka on Instagram after contract annoucement

Rogers has been one of the driving forces behind Aston Villa‘s recent rise under Unai Emery, as he won the PFA Young Player of the Year award last season for his consistently impressive performances.

He has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last 12 months, but signed fresh terms of his own with Villa last November to extend his deal until 2031.

Villa may still be forced to sell him at some point in the near future for financial reasons, and he did little to dissuade links to Arsenal by replying to Saka’s latest Instagram post about his new contract.

The Arsenal star put out a picture of him signing his deal alongside the caption: “Fully committed,” to which Rogers replied with a red heart emoji.

Which records could Saka now break at Arsenal?

Saka has never truly looked close to leaving Arsenal, and with his latest contract set to expire when he is 29-years-old, it does seem as if he could play for the club until he retires.

He has already racked up 297 appearances and 78 goals for the Gunners over the last seven-and-a-half years, and is now reportedly set to earn around £300,000-per-week.

The England winger could break several records in the next five years at the Emirates, but one that does seem unlikely for him to reach is David O’Leary’s 722 all-time appearances, with another 426 games needed to surpass such a figure.

Saka needs another 150 goals to equal Thierry Henry‘s record of 228 for Arsenal, but breaking into the top 10 goalscorers in their history could be a more realistic target, with another 47 needed to surpass David Jack’s record of 124.
