Morgan Rogers sends five-word message after Aston Villa beat Cardiff

Morgan Rogers shared a message with Aston Villa fans after they secured their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Unai Emery’s side sealed a 2-0 victory over Cardiff City at Villa Park, with Marco Asensio scoring both goals to send them through to the last eight.

Marcus Rashford played a key role once again, assisting his fellow loanee for the opener—just as he did for Asensio’s brace against Chelsea. The Spaniard then doubled Villa’s lead with a composed finish, capping off a convincing performance.

Rogers, who started on the bench as Rashford was given the nod, was introduced in the 82nd minute to replace the England international.

Following the win, Asensio shared a celebratory message with the Aston Villa fans, and Rogers was quick to follow suit, reflecting the team’s confidence and momentum.

Rogers had previously expressed his disappointment to Aston Villa fans following the heavy Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace, but he has remained a key figure in Emery’s side.

Despite the setback against Palace, Rogers was superb for Aston Villa, constantly driving forward and looking to make an impact in the game.

He has also enjoyed a season of regular game time, making 38 appearances so far. His substitute appearance against Cardiff marked the first time he had started on the bench, having been in the starting XI for all the 37 matches across all competitions he has featured in.

Unai Emery to back Morgan Rogers amid poor league form

Rogers has been a bright spark for Villa this season, contributing 12 goals and six assists. However, the team’s form has been inconsistent, with four wins, three defeats, and three draws in their last 10 games.

Despite sitting just four points off a Champions League spot, they find themselves 10th in the table, struggling to maintain momentum in the race for European qualification.

Emery has faced criticism from Aston Villa fans for tweaking his tactics too often based on opponents, but the win over Cardiff provided a timely boost for the squad.

With Rashford delivering another brilliant performance, it remains to be seen whether he will keep his place over Rogers in the team as Villa prepare to face Club Brugge on 4 March.
