Morgan Rogers sends four-word message to Aston Villa fans after stunning twist

Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers has sent a message to the fans after his starring role in their 2-1 Premier League win over Man City on Saturday (December 21).

The 22-year-old had a hand in both of Villa’s goals, providing the assist for Jhon Duran’s opener and then securing all three points for the home side with a cool finish in the 65th minute.

Man City winger Phil Foden got a goal back in added time but it proved to be too little too late, and, in a remarkable twist, City fell to their eighth defeat in their last 12 games across all competitions.

Unai Emery’s side have now gone above City in the race for Champions League qualification, sitting in fifth with 28 points from their 17 games, two behind Arsenal in fourth.

Rogers came through the Man City academy alongside the likes of Cole Palmer and Foden before joining Middlesbrough in July 2023 in pursuit of first-team football.

Aston Villa seem to have turned a corner after a poor run of form, winning four of their last five games across all competitions following an eight-game winless run.

Rogers is enjoying a breakout season, starting all 23 of his appearances, scoring five goals, and providing four assists in 1922 minutes of action.

The young forward took to Instagram to celebrate a memorable performance against his former club, simply captioning the post: “I love this game.”

Aston Villa travel to fellow Champions League qualification hopefuls Newcastle on Boxing Day (December 26) in another pivotal game.

Emery’s side will then face out-of-form Brighton in their last game in December, rounding off their hectic festive period.
