Morgan Rogers sends message to Aston Villa fans after Liverpool showdown

Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers took to social media to send a message to the fans after their 2-2 Premier League draw on Wednesday (February 19).

The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes as the points were shared between the two sides at Villa Park, leaving Unai Emery’s side without a win in five Premier League games.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 29th minute with his 29th goal of the season thanks to a defensive miscommunication between Andres Garcia and Axel Disasi.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former PGMOL chief, and ex-FIFA official Keith Hackett believes Disasi should have seen red before the goal for appearing to lash out at Alexis Mac Allister.

Hackett also slammed Craig Pawson for ignoring Liverpool midfielder Mac Allister’s committed a “clear holding offence” against Aston Villa defender Disasi.

Youri Tielemans restored parity in the 38th minute before Ollie Watkins gave the home side the lead in added time of the first half.

Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the equaliser just after the hour-mark, sending Liverpool eight points clear at the top of the table before Arsenal face West Ham on Saturday (February 22).

Morgan Rogers enjoyed a ‘good battle’ as Aston Villa share points with leaders Liverpool

Rogers took to Instagram to commemorate their tight 2-2 draw with Liverpool, saying: “Good battle fellas. We keep going!!”

Emery’s side remain in contention for European football once the season ends despite their poor run of form, sitting in ninth with 39 points from their 26 games.

Villa will face fellow out-of-form side Chelsea in the late kick-off on Saturday (February 22) with both in desperate need of a win.
