Morgan Rogers sends message to Aston Villa teammate Ollie Watkins

Aston Villa ace Morgan Rogers has taken to social media to show support for teammate Ollie Watkins after their 1-0 Premier League win over Everton on Wednesday (January 15).

Both Rogers, 22, and Watkins, combined for the only goal of the game as Villa defeated David Moyes’ side in the manager’s first game since his return.

Rogers played an inch-perfect through ball to Watkins, allowing him to go one-on-one with Jordan Pickford and slotting past his England teammate with ease.

Villa’s win takes them up to seventh with 35 points, just points off Newcastle in fourth after their comprehensive 3-0 win over Wolves.

Watkins has struggled for form this season after an impressive campaign last time out, starting 23 of his 28 games across all competitions, scoring nine goals, and providing seven assists in his 1908 minutes of action.

Rogers, on the other hand, has established himself as a key player for Emery, starting all 27 of his games across all competitions this season, scoring seven goals, and providing five assists in his 2261 minutes on the field.

The winger took to Instagram after the win over Everton to let Watkins know they’re in it together, saying: “I got you back bro.”

Villa still have four games remaining in January alone, including crucial Champions League ties with Monaco and Celtic.

Emery’s attention will be on Arsenal for now, however, as the Spaniard travels to his former club on Saturday (January 18).
