Morgan Rogers sends three-word message to Aston Villa fans after heroics

Aston Villa forward took to social media to celebrate their 4-2 Champions League win over Scottish champions Celtic on Wednesday (January 29).

The 22-year-old bagged a hattrick as Unai Emery’s side secured a top-eight finish in the new-look league phase, avoiding a potentially tricky two-legged play-off.

Rogers opened the scoring after just three minutes before getting a second just two minutes later, making the England international the first player in Champions League history to score twice in the first five minutes.

Celtic striker Adam Idah made it 2-2 with a remarkable two-minute goal spree, the first in the 36th minute and the second in the 38th.

Arsenal-linked Ollie Watkins got in on the act in the 60th minute before Rogers rounded off the scoring in added time, securing a memorable win for the Premier League side.

Rogers is having a breakout season at Villa, starting all 31 of his games across all competitions, scoring ten goals, and providing five assists in his 2599 minutes of action.

The forward took to Instagram after the win over Celtic, clearly shocked by his own achievements, he captioned the post: “Wow, just wow.”

Villa will have to wait until after the play-offs to find out who they will face in the round of 16, with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG, and Man City all finishing below them.

Emery’s attention will return to domestic affairs on Saturday (January 1) as they face local rivals Wolves in the Premier League.
