Motherwell vs Aberdeen postponement latest as Met Office issue Scotland weather warning
Motherwell are set to take on Aberdeen on Sunday as they look to boost their European hopes at Fir Park.
The Steelmen are edging ever closer to securing fourth place and a spot in the Europa Conference League’s second qualifying round.
However, the Met Office on 13 February has now issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice covering much of Scotland, including Motherwell, ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Premiership match.
This is expected to last between 9pm on Saturday and 10am on Sunday, with the warning stating that roads and railway journeys will likely be affected, and there is the potential to be injured on the slippery surfaces.
Due to this, it remains a possibility that the game at Fir Park could be called off. However, it remains to be seen if these steps are taken.
Another huge match in ML1 👊

Let’s get our home bouncing once again.
Motherwell vs Aberdeen appears to be a cursed fixture
Motherwell have had little luck with the weather so far this season.
In early February, the Steelmen’s tie against Dundee was postponed due to heavy rain.
Days later, Motherwell’s trip up to Aberdeen was called off in the Scottish Cup, once again due to the weather.
Now, if the Scottish Premiership tie is postponed on Saturday, the fixture will be seemingly cursed, with the two top-flight sides finding it impossible to meet each other in any competition.
However, even if the tie is called off, the two sides are set to meet on Wednesday in the rearranged Scottish Cup fixture at Pittodrie Stadium.
Motherwell’s record vs Aberdeen explained
In recent times, the Steelmen have fared far better against Aberdeen.
Motherwell have won three of their last five meetings against the Dons, including a 2-0 win at Fir Park at the start of the season.
With Aberdeen set to have Peter Leven in charge for Sunday’s fixture, Jens Berthel Askou will certainly fancy his chances if the tie goes ahead, especially given their current form.
While Motherwell cannot move up or down in the table with a win or a defeat, they will be hoping to gain further daylight between themselves and fifth-placed Hibs, and potentially even put pressure on Celtic.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the Steelmen can continue their fine form and pick up yet another win in the Scottish Premiership.
