‘Moyes could get Evan Ferguson firing at Everton’ as special deal ready
Brighton star Evan Ferguson’s flame has fizzled out after his initial burst of promise for the Seagulls – with a loan at West Ham not going to plan last term.
The 20-year-old made just eight appearances for the Irons in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign and failed to score in east London.
Ferguson had burst onto the scene as one of the Premier League‘s most exciting talents and looked set to be the next expensive departure from Brighton.
According to The Irish Times (12 June), Brighton could allow the forward to leave permanently this summer after his unsuccessful loan with West Ham – with Everton reportedly interested.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has claimed David Moyes could be the right man to get Ferguson firing again.

Everton could strike bonus-related Ferguson deal, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed he expects Everton to agree a special bonus-based deal if they move for Ferguson, who has struggled with injuries in recent seasons.
The 22-cap Republic of Ireland striker, who has scored 17 goals in 80 Brighton games, is under contract at the Amex Stadium until June 2029.
Wyness admitted he would not rely on Ferguson to be the new first-choice striker at Everton.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “He came in with a bit of a bang, didn’t he?
“Everybody thought he was the next great thing and then sort of disappeared. He had some injuries, et cetera. It’s hard.
“He also had a loan period at West Ham that didn’t really pull up the trees either. There are definitely some question marks, but is it about confidence – which it normally is with strikers?
“He’s a young player, so I think Moyes could be the manager to get him firing again. I think with Ferguson, he’s not going to be first choice. He’s not like a Delap.
“There’s still be some question marks, so it’ll all depend on the deal and the structure of the deal. As with Calvert-Lewin, that was, I believe, was going to be heavily bonus related and I think Ferguson would have to be the same.
“He’s going to have to prove himself and he’s going to have to hit the ground running. Moyes will give him a chance to come back and it be a great place for him to go. So we’ll wait and see.”

Everton summer budget revealed
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (18 June) that Everton’s owners plan to back Moyes with a summer budget of around £70million.
There is set to be plenty of change on and off the pitch this summer as Everton prepare to make the move from Goodison Park to their new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock.
Everton are in a stronger Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) position, but are still expected to be slightly restrained following their previous issues.
