Moyes told to axe West Ham player v Southampton amid ‘incredible’ Zouma claim

Kevin Campbell has urged David Moyes to bring the “tremendous” Kurt Zouma into the West Ham starting XI against Southampton on Saturday.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Scottish boss needs to axe one of his centre-backs to hand Zouma his debut.

West Ham confirmed the capture of the France international from Chelsea last month.

The 26-year-old will wear the number four shirt for the Hammers after signing a four-year deal at the London Stadium.

Campbell admitted he would throw Zouma straight into the starting XI this weekend.

“I’d put him straight in – I wouldn’t mess around,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“You want to bed him in straight away because I think he’s an incredible player.

“Whoever has to get dropped, gets dropped.

“You don’t spend that money to keep him on the bench – what’s the point in getting him if you do?

“I think David Moyes just has to make the hard decisions and get it done.

“Someone like Dawson can play multiple positions as well. If they wanted to go to a three, they could, or Dawson can slot in at right-back.”

Zouma has made 165 Premier League appearances in spells at Chelsea, Everton and Stoke City.

He also has eight senior caps for France.

The 6ft 3in centre-back won the Premier League, Champions League and League Cup during his time with former club Chelsea.

Born in Lyon, Zouma made the switch to England from Saint-Etienne for around £12million in 2014.

In other news, West Ham are looking to get Winston Reid off their wage bill to make room for January additions, according to Noel Whelan.
