‘Mugged off’, ‘Imagine getting laughed at on a live broadcast’ – Fans react as Chris Sutton destroys Kris Boyd live on air after Rangers defeat to Celtic

Fans have mocked Kris Boyd after Chris Sutton dug him out on his opinion of Kyogo Furuhashi following Rangers’ loss to Celtic on Saturday (30 December).

Boyd has often been critical of Furuhashi’s finishing ability during his time at Parkhead, and the Sky Sports pundits were at odds once again regarding the striker.

However, the Japanese international bagged the Hoops’ second goal to cement the 2-1 victory at Celtic Park – their second Old Firm win of the season.

Brendan Rodgers’ side opened the scoring through Paulo Bernardo but James Tavernier’s late effort proved worthless as Philippe Clement suffered his first loss as the Ibrox boss.

Kyogo leathered his strike into the top corner from outside the box early in the second half to secure his 10th goal of the campaign in all competitions.

Speaking live on air, Sutton could not resist the chance to have a little go at Boyd and mockingly asked him if he would continue to write off the 28-year-old following his heroics against Rangers.

Boyd responded by highlighting the controversial incident when Rangers were not awarded a penalty after Celtic’s Alistair Johnston handled the ball in the box – but fans felt that Sutton got the upper hand over the former Gers man.

Fans have taken to social media to berate Boyd for talking “nonsense” and failing to get the better of the quick-witted Sutton.
