Rangers manager Graeme Murty has been raving about the potential impact new signing Sean Goss could have on his side after agreeing a season-long loan deal from QPR.
The former Manchester United youngster has been compared with Michael Carrick and fans are looking forward to getting to see him in action for the Light Blues.
Goss will face stiff competition for a starting place with Graham Dorrans, Andy Halliday, Jason Holt, Ryan Jack, Jordan Rossiter and Ross McCrorie all potentially competing for a place in the starting XI.
Murty believes Goss can help the Gers “dictate the tempo” in games more after coming under the serious pressure in a number of games.
“He gives us control in the middle of the pitch, an increased ability to get the game started from back to front, a wonderful left foot with a good range of passing and a composure, hopefully, that means we can dictate the tempo of the game more than we have done currently,” Murty said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“We’ve been very good in games where people have come to us and have been in our faces.
“We’ve managed to match that intensity, now we need to dictate tempo and dictate the flow of the game, and hopefully Sean can help us do that.
“We need someone who can really disrupt their lines, beat their block if they are going to be a solid unit and extend the range of our attacks from side to side on the pitch.
“But also give us a measure of control when we don’t want to go quickly and we want to dictate tempo, we want to shift the ball around the pitch. He can hopefully help us do that a little bit more.”
Goss never made a first-team appearance at Old Trafford before switching to QPR 12 months ago in a £500,000 move.
After making a handful of first-team appearances in the second-half of last season, Goss has struggled to get into the side this season.
Goss joined his new team-mates as they jetted out to the United States from Edinburgh Airport on Saturday to face Corinthians and Atletico Mineiro in the Florida Cup.
